Course Feedback
"Being new to Capacity Planning, I needed to get up and running quickly to provide a Capacity Planning service for a large number of servers and wide area networks in our organisation, and was feeling a little daunted by the magnitude of the task.
The Capacity Planning Tools and Methods course introduced me to the important techniques for analysing existing workloads and forecasting capacity and performance issues. The experienced consultants giving the course were able to show how I can use readily available tools including Microsoft Excel to implement those techniques. Thanks to Capacitas' vendor-neutral approach, I will be able to evaluate which additional tools I may need (and which tools I don't) without being biased towards any particular supplier.
On my return to the office, I was presented with a couple of immediate requirements to plan for a sudden increase in users. I now know what information I need to gather about those systems, and how to use it to make confident predictions of the changes we will need to make to our infrastructure to handle this extra load and future growth. I'm now relishing the opportunity to put these new skills in to practice.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to anyone new or continuing in Capacity Planning. The tutors both have a wealth of experience in real-world capacity planning and equally importantly are able to teach the complex concepts which must be understood by the Capacity Planner. "
Jim Avery, Wincanton plc
"After more than five years doing Capacity Planning and attending different courses and conferences, I think the course, "Capacity Planning: Tools and Methods" should be a must for everyone working on this subject. It's the first time I have seen all the terms, ideas and techniques presented in a comprehensive order. Attendees only need a basic knowledge of Microsoft-Excel.
The course is well prepared and structured, beginning with the basics (defining baselining, thresholds, trends, etc) and ending with the more complex methods (regression and simulation). It is useful for all platforms, from mainframe to PCs and is workload independent. The course material is excellent. The tutors were friendly and competent.
It was my first course with Capacitas and, probably, not the last. Next month two colleagues will attend at the same great course. "
Josep Miquel Oliver, Capacity Planning and Performance Manager, la Caixa
"I recently attended the course 'Capacity Planning: Tools and Methods' and found it extremely beneficial. The course content was ideal for my requirements and there was broad range of techniques covered. Despite the breadth, there was enough depth on each topic that I came away with a practical understanding of each technique and how to apply it. I liked the pace of the course, and found that the enthusiasm and energy of the instructors really helped me understand the more complex techniques."
Richard Bailey, Capacity Manager, CMC Markets
"Capacitas have been very helpful when working with me to design a training program for my capacity team, showing great flexibility and competency in getting the right program for different levels of experience from basic to high level.
I have attended two courses so far - the one day Excel workshop and Capacity Planning: Tools and Methods - both have been well run and given direct benefit to me in my role.
A number of additional courses as part of my team program are booked, as well as now having a training road map in place for capacity management for my organisation. Our commitment to this shows our faith in Capacitas to deliver quality training now and in the future."
Steve Keable, Manager, Capacity and Performance, for a major UK retail bank
"I found the Capacitas course (Capacity Planning: Tools & Methods) to be well-structured, comprehensive and informative. We covered a lot of complex material and a broad spectrum of case studies in the 4 days. The presentations were clear and were delivered by very well-informed trainers in a relaxed and effective manner. It is a great credit to the trainers that they were able to convey such detailed statistical analysis and simulation techniques to a wide audience, without losing anyone in a cold sweat or state of confusion. The case studies showed how easily the techniques can be applied to good effect in a variety of realistic scenarios.
The sample spreadsheets and Excel add-ons have proven to be very useful, both as supplements to the comprehensive notes, where it helps to see the cell formulae and browse the entire worksheets; as well as providing working templates for doing our own analysis and modelling. I've been entering our own business volumes into the forecasting spreadsheets and have already found this useful in dealing with capacity queries. I would recommend this course to anyone with an interest in capacity planning. "
Carolyn Bradley, Norwich Union
"When choosing a training provider, I wanted to speak to someone that gave me confidence that they had achieved success before and were able to be flexible in their approach. When you speak to Capacitas that is exactly what you get. Booking the training was easy. The office staff were extremely friendly and helpful. When I was promised something it arrived, when I was told something would happen, it happened.
As a relevant newcomer to Capacity Planning, this course has been invaluable. The training itself was well structured, superbly delivered and very effective.
Finally I would like to thank you for all your hard work so far. I already have future sessions planned that I am sure will be as successful as the ones I have already attended. It has been a pleasure dealing with Capacitas."
Natasha Russell, EDF Energy
"I was impressed with the training content and style of presentation (Capacity Planning:Tools and Methods). The instructors clearly have a thorough knowledge of their discipline, and this is backed up nicely with a variety of 'real life case studies' that both clarify and enhance the course material. Most of the methods demonstrated could be used 'across platform' which ensured that all the attendees were kept interested at all times.
All in all a valuable four days - after which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Capacitas training programme for both the novice and seasoned Capacity Planner."
Jon Tyson, Allianz Cornhill
"I thoroughly enjoyed the Capacity Planning: Tools & Methods course. As a newcomer to capacity planning I found the course invaluable. The content is pitched at a good level and backed up by real-life examples. The course is both relaxed and informative. The course instructors have in-depth knowledge of their subject and present it with enthusiasm. They're also willing to take the time to ensure you have a full understanding of the topics covered."Charles Warner, Capacity/Availability Manager, Allen & Overy
"I found the IP Capacity Planning Course to be very useful and informative. The course material was well structured and extremely well presented. The breadth & depth of the course content was excellent. I personally found the MPLS section to be the most useful, and I'm currently in the process of applying some of what I learnt. At Energis our IP Network is growing at a very fast pace, with MPLS at its core. The MPLS measuring/monitoring and planning techniques will make the Capacity Planning task easier."
Sukh Dosanjh, Core IP Network Capacity Planning Manager, Energis
"The course was presented in a fresh, easy to understand manner. Capacitas brought together a number of examples from the real world to allow the students to more easily understand the network planning application / technique that was being explained. No section under or over ran and Q&A was interspersed with the main presentation facilitating full understanding during the chapter being covered.A very well run training course, both in presentation and time management. I foresee that Capacitas will be used again in the near future, by ntl, to provide outsourced training for both advertised and bespoke courses."
Charles Watson, Senior Equipment Engineer, ntl:business
"I enjoyed the course, the tutors were well informed and very friendly. The course gave a me a good understanding of how network planning should be done given time and resources but it also spent time discussing the realities of planning in a business environment which lacks resources and money."Julie Ball, Data Network Planning, ntl
"The Capacitas tutorials are absolutely the BEST study materials for Capacity Planning. They somehow manage to condense key concepts into a few pages of excellently written material that is easy to understand. The mix of tutorials and examples are in my opinion the best way to learn any subject. I have recommended Capacitas to many friends and to my employer. Keep up the good work!"Hassan Bayouni, Capacity Planner, Europe, Level 3 Communications Inc.
"The course is conducted at a pace that should suit most requirements, with a well-balanced mixture of lectures, worked examples and case studies. The course material is both relevant and well structured enabling casework to be re-visited and understood once back in the workplace. Capacitas do not shy away from covering those subjects which can typically be difficult to explain or create examples for, such as traffic routing, link failure analysis, statistical filtering methods and much more. The lecturers share their wealth of experience with the delegates in a friendly and positive way encouraging learning and promoting thought along the way.T-Mobile UK will benefit from this training both in the retrospective application of lessons learned and the opportunities to improve planning for the deployment of IP based services."
Graeme Chalklin, Manager, Capacity Management and Engineering Planning, T-Mobile UK
"Having previously attended the Capacitas "Capacity Planning: Tools and Methods" course, I then signed up for the "Capacity Planning Windows Server" course. I found this to be extremely relevant, with a clear explanation of the most useful Windows performance indicators, with real-world examples. The Windows course built on and reinforced what I had already learned from the Tools and Methods course. The differences between various versions of Windows was highlighted, and the instructor showed flexibility in tailoring the content of the course to the specific situation of the delegates.I now feel much more confident and competent in carrying out my capacity planning and performance management role on Windows servers."

Seminar Feedback
Business Capacity Management Seminar 19/09/2005
"Translating business volume forecasts into IT infrastructure capacity, has long been a hazardous and tedious process for capacity planners. So much so that dialogue between IT and the business planners deteriorated to such an extent that it was just paid 'lip service' or in extreme cases communication ceased altogether. Clearly the result of this is unacceptable given increased competition through multiple distribution channels where both the business and IT are required to respond in ever shortening timescales. It is also incumbent on IT to demonstrate the value of accurate and timely forecasting.
Capacitas specialists presented a model for approaching these issues, demonstrating a coherent relationship between Business, Service and Infrastructure (Resource) metrics. This was supplemented by a relevant (business driven) case study, followed by the opportunity to quiz the panel of subject experts.
My diary is extremely full these days but I considered this to be a very valuable meeting and I will keep my eye open for the next one."
Roy Cawthra, Operations Manager, Allianz Cornhill
