Capacitas consultants Danny Quilton and Thomas Barns presented "Testing and Modelling - A two-pronged approach to risk mitigation" at the EuroTEC event in Oxford. The topic consisted of discussion regarding relative merits and weaknesses of each approach, and the tools, people and processes required to deliver them. Whitepaper: Meeting the Challenges of Capacity Management in Virtualised Environments
Capacitas, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) capacity and performance specialist issued a white paper describing the possible solutions to some of the challenges that may be encountered when conducting capacity management of services based on server virtualisation technologies. Neil McMenemy of Capacitas presented "Low Cost Accurate Batch Modelling - A Case Study" at the 34th CMG Annual Conference. Paul Seaton-Smith presented "Experience in Agile Performance Testing". Capacitas has delivered performance testing as a managed service for some years. In 2007, a well-known low-cost airline adopted an Agile software development approach. This presentation described Capacitas's experience in conducting performance testing for this customer and how we overcame the challenges brought about by this change in development strategy. Andy Bolton presented the topic "Service Management Service Oriented Architecture and Agile Development - A Governance Framework". This presentation covered the performance and capacity issues that can arise due to the increasing use of Service Oriented Architecture and Agile Development approaches. Andy also proposed a governance framework that can be used to maximise the investment in these two approaches whilst maintaining good risk management techniques. Whitepaper: Sizing the UK Identity Card System
Capacitas, the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) capacity and performance specialist has issued a white paper which, for the first time, quantifies the expected business demand for the UK Identity Card service. The expected demand is 1.2 billion business processes per annum, which is comparable to the NHS National Programme for IT (currently the largest non-military ICT project in Europe). The scale of this demand presents a significant risk to the project as system performance issues are more likely to occur when attempting to meet demand of this magnitude.The whitepaper is available for download here.
