Job Description – Principal Consultant (Capacity & Performance)

This is an opportunity to join a growing company with a great reputation. The role requires a confident Capacity & Performance Principal Consultant. The successful candidate must have at least 10 years’ experience in a performance and capacity role and be confident in presenting to an audience.
The consultant will become a primary contact for a subset of our customers and will lead both sales opportunities and project engagements. The consultant must therefore be experienced in the technical role and also must be capable of inspiring confidence in the customers. In addition the consultant will be expected to undertake marketing activities such as presenting at conferences and writing marketing material. Additional training will be provided in ITIL, consultancy and selling as necessary.
In addition to strong written and verbal English skills the consultant will have a range of skills:
Capacity and performance expertise:
- Demand forecasting/planning;
- Building capacity and performance models;
- Building demand plans;
- Gathering capacity planning requirements from business users;
- Dealing with situations where required data inputs to the capacity management process are difficult to secure;
- Performance testing experience would also be advantageous.
Experience in as many of the following platforms as possible:
- Windows Servers (e.g. Exchange, SQL, SharePoint);
- Unix variants (e.g. Solaris, Linux, AIX);
- IBM (Mainframe, AS/400);
- SANs;
- TCP/IP networks;
- Virtualisation.
Other non-technical skills:
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills;
- Any ITIL accreditation is desirable;
- Sales or account management experience is beneficial;
- Experience in dealing with senior management;
- Demonstrate a contribution to personal development e.g. member of special interest groups; presenting and participation at industry forums.
Although the role is based in the London office it will involve considerable travel. Any French language skills would also be useful as this is a market we are currently expanding into.
