Executive Biographies

Andy Bolton, Chief Executive Officer

Andy is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Capacitas, responsible for managing the company, defining and executing the long-term strategy, and for all interactions with clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders. He brings 18 years of experience in the IT and Telecommunications industries to Capacitas. With this broad range of experience he has a thorough understanding of the key aspects of delivering and supporting successful ICT services, across the entire application development lifecycle, to improve productivity and profitability.

Andy previously worked at Level 3 Communications where he led the Long-Range Capacity Planning function for Europe and was responsible for setting budgets and controlling expenditure, whilst ensuring the European region met all customer capacity requirements. Prior to that, Andy worked at National Westminster Bank and was responsible for capacity planning for the Retail Banking Services division, also providing additional planning expertise to the Corporate Banking Services division. In both these roles he built and managed successful Capacity Planning functions with responsibilities across the entire product development cycle. This included defining processes and systems to deliver best-in-class capacity planning, as recognised by Gartner Group and Adventis. Earlier roles included Network Manager at Barclays Metals Group (part of BZW) and various software and hardware engineering positions in companies such as Xerox, Computacenter and Case Communications.

Andy has led Capacitas from its formation to a successful and expanding business, with strong consultancy and training delivery channels and an impressive client list. He has built his reputation on his strong customer-focus and attention to quality, ensuring that the customer always gets the most appropriate solution to meet their requirements and cost. Andy is also acting Head of Sales and Marketing at Capacitas.

Andy has presented at several UKCMG Conferences, Regional meetings and Industry Forums on various topics relating to performance and capacity management. Andy was on the UKCMG Executive Committee for 2 years and has had his work published by CMG in the US on their MeasureIT monthly online newsletter.


Dr. Manzoor Mohammed, Chief Technology Officer

Manzoor Mohammed has worked in the ICT industry for over 9 years. He has extensive experience of capacity management methodologies and development of decision support software for ICT systems.

At Capacitas, Manzoor has also being involved in building capacity and performance models at different stages of project lifecycles. These include a metro network capacity model during the design stage of the project and a performance response time model for one of the world's largest J2EE messaging systems during the bid and design stages.

Manzoor previously worked as a Senior Network Analyst at Level 3 Communications, where he identified the requirement for a single software tool to plan all the network technologies. He subsequently led a team to design and deliver the tool. Prior to Level 3 Manzoor worked as a Performance Engineer at BT Research Laboratories, Martlesham. Manzoor built both analytical and simulation performance models of different systems including BT's Intelligent Network call gapping system and also early PSTN to IP gateway devices.

Manzoor is primarily responsible for providing his capacity and performance skills for capacity and performance analysis and modelling for different ICT systems. These include voice, network and IT systems. Manzoor regularly writes papers and has presented at several UKCMG Conferences, Regional meetings and Industry Forums. Manzoor also has responsibility for evaluating technologies and registering patent applications for our developing technologies. Manzoor is a co-founder of Capacitas.


Daniel Quilton, Chief Operating Officer

Danny Quilton is a capacity planning and performance specialist with 10 years experience across a broad range of industries including airline, media, banking, retail and telecommunications. Prior to co-founding Capacitas, he worked at National Westminster Bank where he delivered innovative solutions to manage the capacity of an extensive environment comprising 1,800 remote sites and 40,000 workstations. At Level 3 Communications he was responsible for developing decision support and planning solutions to enable the successful roll-out of a global, multi-service, $multi-billion network.

Since Capacitas's foundation, Danny has been responsible for securing institutional funding, from both public and private sector bodies. He is also responsible for developing the company's software and training strategy. He has established a number of unrivalled capacity and performance management training courses, which have been recognised for their industry leading content. This has led to Danny conducting extensive research into the field of forecasting, which has been harnessed on client engagements to ensure that capacity planning processes have accurate and accountable business forecasts as their foundation.

Danny has built a reputation for his ability to understand client requirements and translate them into workable solutions. He is skilled across all technology fields, enabling him to deliver solutions across today's heterogeneous ICT infrastructures. Danny has presented at numerous UK Computer Measurement Group (UKCMG) events and has contributed articles to a number of publications including "Venture" and ".net" magazines. As a co-founder of Capacitas, he has advised a number of clients including easyJet, BSkyB, BT Radianz and Scottish Water.
